Meet the Founder
Shannon has spent her life immersed in sports. First as a competitive athlete in softball, then recreational floor hockey, and moved on to amateur boxing at an Olympic training facility, and coaching softball. Growing up, she knew the struggle of wearing protective gear, especially mouthguards. Even after witnessing a teammate lose four front teeth to a line drive, the only real motivation to wear one was to protect her smile (and appease her parents).
As a coach, she saw the same resistance in her players. That sparked an idea: what if wearing a mouthguard could be bearable — maybe even fun? She began experimenting with flavoured gels for her team to use before games and practices. The response was immediate — the athletes loved them and wanted more flavours.
Life took her in other directions, but the idea stayed. With her unique blend of athletic experience, retail expertise, and personal passion for solving this long-standing problem, Shannon is now ready to launch Swush gel, transforming mouthguard use from a chore into a game-changing experience for young athletes.

Building a Safer Sports Community
Paving the way in sports safety through building partnerships with sports and dental associations, leagues, school boards, and local communities.
We’re having discussions and teaming up with the organizations that shape kids’ sports from national and provincial sport associations like the Olympics Canada and Ontario Football Alliance, to school boards and community leagues across Canada. These partnerships amplify our impact: helping us reach young athletes where they play, learn, and grow. By aligning with the trusted leaders in youth sports, we can accelerate awareness, encourage safe play, and build a future where wearing a mouthguard becomes second nature — supported by the communities that care about kids the most.
